🍓Ingredients
See recipe card at the bottom of the post for the full list of ingredients and exact amounts.

- Dark chocolate. You can use chopped chocolate bars, which will melt the smoothest and creamiest, or dark chocolate chips.
- Cold heavy cream. It might also be called heavy whipping cream -- same thing. It should have at least 36% milk fat. Keep it cold until you're ready to start whipping it.
- Vanilla extract. While technically optional, it adds warm flavor. You can also use a little almond, peppermint, or orange extract -- or whatever flavor you want to add.
- Optional, salt. A little salt is a flavor enhancer. Add a dash to the melted chocolate, if you like.
🥣How to Make Dark Chocolate Mousse with 3 Ingredients

Step 1: Microwave the cream and chocolate in a heatproof bowl until warm. Stir until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth. Cool to room temperature.

Step 2: Whip the remaining cream and vanilla extract to medium peaks -- the peaks hold their shape, but the tips curl down. Mix in the melted chocolate mixture and whip to stiff peaks -- the peaks hold their shape and do not curl down.

Step 3: Spoon the mousse mixture into individual cups or transfer to a serving bowl. Chill 1-4 hours to firm up.

Step 4: Serve with homemade whipped cream, fresh strawberries, or crushed cookies and mini chocolate chips. A little sea salt is a nice touch, too!
☑️Tips
- When whipping heavy cream, start on a lower speed and gradually work up to medium-high speed to keep it from splattering all over the kitchen.
- Keep a close eye on the whipped cream, it can go from stiff peaks to overwhipped in a split second.
🎁Storage
This delicious chocolate mousse is best enjoyed in the first two days. Store leftovers in the fridge for 3-5 days, covered with plastic wrap pressed to the surface of the mousse to keep it from drying out.
You can also store it in the freezer and enjoy it slightly frozen, like ice cream, or thawed.

📖 Recipe

3 Ingredient Chocolate Mousse
Ingredients
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ½ cup dark chocolate
- ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Instructions
- Warm ¼ cup heavy cream and the chocolate in the microwave for 30 seconds, then 10-second intervals, until warm. Stir until smooth. Set aside to cool to room temperature.
- In a large bowl, whip the remaining ¾ cup heavy cream and vanilla extract to medium peaks (peaks hold their shape, but the tips curl down). Add the chocolate mixture and whip to stiff peaks (peaks hold their shape and do not curl). Do not overmix or the mousse will become grainy and crumbly when cold.
- Spoon or pipe the mousse into individual ramekins or small bowls, or transfer to a large serving bowl. Chill 1-4 hours before serving. Top with fresh whipped cream, fresh berries, crushed cookies, chocolate chips, and chocolate shavings.
