- Angel food cake. Homemade, box mix, or store-bought angel food cake. I used a box mix.
- Vanilla instant pudding mix. French vanilla, cheesecake, or white chocolate flavors also work. Use two 4-serving-size boxes.
- Sour cream. Adds a slight tang and richness, balancing out the sweetness. You can substitute with plain Greek yogurt.
- Cool Whip. If you're not into Cool Whip, try Truwhip or add fresh whipped cream right before serving.
- Toasted almonds. Optional, but they add delicious crunch and nutty flavor.
🫐Substitutions
- Cake. Swap out vanilla sponge cake or pound cake cubes for the angel food cake.
- Pie filling. Substitute blueberry, apple, raspberry, or cherry pie filling.

🥣How to Make Strawberry Heaven on Earth Cake

Step 1: Whisk pudding mix with milk and sour cream until smooth and creamy.

Step 2: Cut angel food cake into 1-inch pieces. Layer half the angel food cake cubes in a 9x13 cake pan. Spread strawberry pie filling on top of the cubed angel food cake.

Step 3: Add remaining cake pieces on top. Spread vanilla pudding mixture over the cake layer.

Step 4: Spread Cool Whip over the vanilla pudding layer, cover, and chill for at least 6 hours. Sprinkle with toasted almonds before serving, optional.
🔪How to Cut the Angel Food Cake Into Cubes
If the cake is very soft, place it in the freezer for about 30 minutes to firm it up before slicing.

Using a serrated knife and a gentle sawing motion, slice the cake in half vertically (top to bottom).

Then cut each half horizontally into three layers.

Slice each layer into rows.

Then cut across to form bite-sized cubes.
☑️Tips
- Cut the angel food cake with a serrated knife using a sawing motion to keep from crusing the cake.
- Chill time is key. Let it set for at least 6 hours so the flavors can meld and the texture firms up.
- Use cold milk for the pudding so it sets properly.
- Customize it with your favorite flavors of pudding and pie filling.
🎁Storage
Store leftovers tightly covered with plastic wrap or in an airtight container for 3-4 days.
